Potomac Edison customers in Virginia will be paying about 9 percent less on their electric bills beginning this month because of two rate decreases since Sept. 1.
The Virginia State Corporation Commission recently approved a reduction in Potomac Edison’s fuel rate by 25 percent, from 1.548 cents per kilowatt-hour to 1.159 cents, effective Dec. 1. In September, the company lowered its base rates by 4.34 percent or $2.6 million, after commission approval.
Due to the fuel-rate and baserate decreases, an average residential bill for a customer who uses .800 kwh a month will now be $49.96, a decrease of $4.91 or 8.96 percent. Before the double rate decrease, the bill would have been $54.87.
For a residential customer using 2,000 kwh of electricity a month, the ' double reduction will lower the total ;bill to $118.53, a decrease of $12.28
