As the assembly was being conducted, other customs dogs now being trained at the Harmony Hollow facility used the school’s corridors as a practice ground. According to Dr. Gangel no drugs were found by the dogs, who were allowed to search up and down the hallways and around the student locker areas.
“We’re very pleased with the fact that no drugs were found,” Dr. Gangel said. “However, we felt with the information which we have we were justified in taking this action.” Citing school board policy on confidentiality, Dr. Gangel declined to provide any specific information about what led to the decision to invite the Customs Service to bring in their dogs.
