Reserve chairman Alan .Greenspan and NBC news correspondent Andrea Mitchell on April 9. The town of .Washington became the center of a omega-media event with photographer’s and reporters from every branch of the news media jockeying for position as the many famous and well known faces of guests invited to the wedding emerged from luxury cars to attend.
The second event — also a well attended by the media — was a part of the expansion of The Inn that has been going on this year. That event was the arrival of the prototype Vulcan stove. The stove arrived in pieces but still took a crew of men to get it into the new kitchen area. Patrick O’connelFs cookbook The Inn at Little Washington, A .Consuming Passion, was named to the bestseller list for The Washington Post.
Lottery win
The biggest story of the year — monetarily speaking ;— involved the Grady Vest family of Flint Hill who won a little over $13 million in the Virginia Lottery. What is a dream for most people became their reality and we also did a follow up story with them several months later. We hope to re-visit the Vests again this year to see how life fairs one year after winning the lottery.
