Gilbert Lawrence, who was sitting talking to his neighbors on the store’s front porch, said he remembers the first time he came to the store. He was riding in the back of a buggy that his sister drove.
Hazel Gray said the store porch was a place to meet with his neighbors, and he was going to miss it: “A lot of tales and lies were told here. Everybody knows everybody here.”
