Hackley married Dorothy in 1947 and she also helped run the business while raising their two children, Jan and Larry. Larry is a folk art dealer and operates the Hackley Gallery in Winchester, Ky.
“It’s been a good business since it was built, and is as good a spot as anywhere in town,” Hackley added
Hackley said nothing is serious yet, but Dorothy’s nephew has expressed an interest in reopening the store with some changes, while keeping the country flavor and even continuing business under the Hackley’s name.
Everything inside is being sold or removed, and plans for the building include fixing up and painting, Dorothy said.
