Thursday, Dec. 26, 1968 Announcement was made today that The Skyline Ski Area, Washington, Va., had been purchased by the Jenkins Mountain Associates partnership and that the ski area will operate this year. Snow making equipment is ready to snow the slopes and the restaurant is preparing for operations. The opening date will depend on weather conditions. If the weather conditions permit, planning is progressing for skiing to commence on Dec. 26.

The new bridge at Laurel Mills was opened to traffic last week. It replaces the old overhead steel span bridge. The prospect of a new bridge and straightened road caused considerable controversy in the Laurel Mills community when it Was proposed by the Highway Department. The official measure of snowfall Sunday and Monday was 5.9 inches and most of that blew up into heaps so sledding was not too good in the area.
