In Rappahannock Circuit Court last week Constance Virginia Brisbane was sentenced to five years in jail for grand larceny, three years suspended, with two years supervised probation.
Brisbane had been charged with stealing property in excess of $200 from Charles Richter in early 1997. Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke said Brisbane also has considerable time to serve in Fauquier and Loudoun counties for crimes committed there.
Defense attorney Cindy Decker asked the court for a lesser sentence of one year and eight months and for Brisbane to be paroled upqn release to a half-way house for treatment since she has ^ history of mental illness.
Judge Shore Robertson said Brisbane had reached an age in her life where she should realize such activities are not accepted and noted that she had been rejected by two programs before.
She was sentenced to the five years, with three suspended and ordered to pay court costs and make restitution to the victim in the amount of $625. Her probation officer will set up a six
