Bob Williamson announced that USDA has made $248,751 in payments to Culpeper and Rappahannock farmers to help offset heavy losses resulting from low commodity prices.
“These income loss assistance payments are part of a relief package designed to help farmers whose livelihoods are on the line,” said Williamson. “They will make the difference for many family farmers who can plan for a spring crop now instead of a spring auction.”
The payments were issued only to those farmers who were eligible under the 1996 Farm Bill for fiscal year 1998 final Production Flexibility Contract payments, sometimes called market transitions payments.
