DMV closed for holidays

In observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, all Department of Motor Vehicles customer service centers will be closed on Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25 as well as Monday, Dec. 31 and Tuesday, Jan. 1, All centers will be open on Saturday, Dec. 22 and Saturday, Dec. 29.

Spring registrations accepted

The Rappahannock Soccer League is currently accepting 2002 spring soccer registrations. They are available at the Rappahannock Library and the Washington Post Office Kiosk.

Fees are $35 for first player and $20 for each additional family member. Some scholarships available. Volunteers are needed for coaching and an adult referee. Call the Registrar, Laura Dodd at 547-2968 for more information. The final day to register is Feb. 15, 2002.

Ragged Mountain activity

The following activity is scheduled through the Ragged Mountain Resource Center. For additional information call Hunt Harris at 987-3366.

• Saturday, Dec. 29: Twilight/Moonlight Hike of Old Rag Mountain. Meet at upper parking lot for Old Rag (Nethers side) between 6:30-7 p.m. Bring layered clothing, comfortable yet sturdy footwear, back-up light and nourishment for self.

Yoga classes in Hume

Fitness oriented yoga classes start early January at Leeds Episcopal Church in Hume. Classes will be Monday and/or Thursday evenings at 7:30 and are appropriate for beginners to intermediate. Call Elly at 364-1070 for additional information or to register.

New Year's Eve Gala

The Windmore Foundation for the Arts and Hazel River Inn Restaurant announces its first New Year’s Eve Gala, “Starry Night”. Join your friends and neighbors, doors will open at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31 at the Hazel River Inn Restaurant on Davis Street in Culpeper.

Proceeds from the Gala will support this non-profit organization and the arts programs in the area including Windmore Community Theater, Art in the Park, Children’s Theater Workshop and more. For information call 547-2555.

Blue Moon schedule

The Akoostiks will perform at Blue Moon Cafe on Friday, Dec. 21 and on Saturday, Dec. 22 the band, Saggin Knutz will perform. Blue Moon Cafe is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday and is located on US 211, just west of Sperryville. For more information call 987-3162.

Exhibition at Packing Shed

The Packing Shed Gallery in Washington is featuring friends of the gallery in Harvest of Artists exhibition which will run through Dec. 30. Featured artists include Susanna Conaway, Nora Harrington, June Jordan, Steve Kenny, Donald Liscomb, Sally Nash, Margot Neuhaus, Robin Purnell, Heather Self and Stephen Wagner.
