• If you failed to attend the Holiday Band Concert at RCHS last week, you missed a truly impressive event! All three bands performing separately under the direction of Mrs. Lynne Fournier were amazing to say the least! Highlights of the evening were special performances by Wendy Gillis on saxophone and Josh McArthur on xylophone.
The percussion section (in Phil Thomas’ words: “the heartbeat of the band") played superbly. And low brass throughout the evening played with heart. There was not a section that did not give their best effort in every selection! Mrs. Fournier and the band members are to be commended!
The RCHS Band dedicated “Take the “A” Train" to Principal Joe Perine, because of his constant encouragement to students to get on the RCHS Bullet Train. He encourages all students to “get on board" so they won’t be left behind!
• Several Band students from grades 7 through 12 have been selected to attend Virginia Tfech Honors Band in January 2002.
