Twelve members of the Panthers’ Quiz Bowl team went on the road to Manassas Park on Monday, Dee. 8 to compete against Clarke County, Manassas Park and George Mason high schools.

Despite the absence of key players Morgan Blubaugh and Julia Baumgardner, the team managed to hold on to second place in the Bull Run district, defeating Clarke and Manassas Park, before being steamrolled by the strong George Mason team.

The season record is now 4 -2, going into the long Christmas break.

In the first match of the evening against Clarke, the Panthers got a slow start, leading by 30-20 after round 1, in which Nathan Welch, Tyler Williams, Jesse Palmer and Luke Wilson competed.

In the directed round, Leslie Taubenberger, Glenn Swain, and Lauren Herbert assisted Williams as captain and gained some confidence, correctly identifying the eighth amendment as the one prohibiting “cruel and unusual punishment.”
