Exterior Electrician Operator-in-Charge
Washington Dulles International Airport
Salary Range: $22.77 to $29.60
The successful candidate will serve as “duty electrician,” assuring that airfield lighting and high voltage distribution systems are operational after normal business hours and providing first response to malfunctioning or inoperative equipment/systems and related electronic controls and sensors. Inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical systems nd performs preventive maintenance during the evening , night, and weekend shifts (shift 3, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. or shift 1,11 p.m. to 7 a.m.) approximately 75% of the time; performs electrician duties on the day shift (shift 2, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.) for the remaining time. Carries or otherwise transports tool box and/or cable, fixtures and other materials weighing up to 80 pounds. Subject to hold-over or recall on a 24-hour basis for essential services and emergencies such as snow removal and restoration of electrical power and systems for which the unit is responsible.
This position requires five (5) years of appropriate experience working with transformers, connections, operations, and parallel and series circuits to perform journey-level work including recognizing excessive current flow, taking high-voltage feeders off-line, determining the reasons for tripped breakers, performing similar tasks to assure operation of highvoltage distribution and lighting systems, and otherwise maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, subsystems and equipment. One year of joumey-level experience must demonstrate primary responsibility for service and emergency procedures to make decisions and take or direct action(s) to maintain or restore service until relieved. Candidates must have a valid State driver’s license, and be able to obtain a CDL, Class B, and an AOA license within 90 days.
