• A bridge spanning the Covington River near Gid Brown Hollow Road has come to be 77 years old, and VDOT says that’s enough.
The one lane bridge shows deterioration of its deck; its piers are Crumbling. The bridge will not be replaced, but simply demolished.
• Having your car towed is something that happens in the District of Columbia, not around here. Well, you may be towed if you are parked in Fran Krebser’s lot in Flint Hill and are having dinner at the Griffin Tavern across the street. The Tavern’s owners, the Doheneys and Ms. Krebser are grumbling at one another. Krebser says she’s had enough of dinner patrons parking on her lot, will warn people first and then start calling the tow people.
• The biggest news in December around here was at the start of the month, with the Christmas parade through the Town of Washington. Good weather. Good cheer. Good food. Everybody dressed up real nice.
