Program & Facility Assistant

Four positions available with the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services. Positions will provide support to the After School program and facility supervision. The Program Assistant provides supervision of After School and/or Camp participants at various locations and in accordance with department policy and procedure. Assists with planning and implementing age appropriate programs and activities for school age after school and summer programs. Assists with field trips. Helps assure state child care licensing standards are met. The Program & Facility Assistant also provides evening and weekend oversight of drop-in users, renters and participants according to program, facility and department policies and procedures. Enforces facility use rules and regulations as posted. Ensures that all participants nave vacated the facility and that facility is secured before leaving. Assists with facility maintenance tasks and room set-up/take down to assure facility is consistently clean and ready for users. Successful candidates must be able to work flexible schedule, to include afternoons, evenings and weekends. Summer hours will vary according to camp schedule. Requires a High School Diploma. Virginia state licensing requires 6 months experience supervising children during recreational or educational activities. Prefer previous experience working with the public. Must be able to perform light maintenance tasks, such as set up of facility tables and chairs, mop floors, etc. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must have certification in First Aid, CPR for adult, infant and child, and TB test prior to beginning work. Criminal background and CPS check, \ralid drivers license required. DMV check.
