Washington’s wastewater treatment plant has been approved and will likely be built near Avon Hall on Middle Street. Leggett said the detailed plans still need to be approved by the DEQ, and that could take a couple more months.
The mayor said he hopes the system will be up and running by the middle of 2008.
“Something’s been draining off from the Town of Washington for 260 years,” Leggett said. “This will interrupt that process.”
