Rappahannock County Farmland Preservation (FP)
Program Request for Applications
The Rappahannock County Farmland Preservation Program seeks to help to preserve productive farmland through the purchase of all or a portion of the development rights on the property, providing a farm owner with an economic return while preserving the property for agricultural use(s).
The program is funded through private donations from persons, and from groups such as the Rappahannock County Conservation Alliance and through roll-back taxes from the UseValue Taxation program.
Among a variety of other requirements and evaluation/ranking criteria, at least one member of the family owning the farm should derive the majority of his or her income from the farm operation in order to qualify for this program.
