Despite the camaraderie inside the Rappahannock gym, it was a relief to go outside, not just for the open air after stuffy cramped quarters, but for the students as well.
Even though Rappahannock is what these young adults identity with in a fond way, most can’t wait to get out and explore the world beyond their section of the commonwealth.
Butler admitted that the scene during the graduation ceremony was different than the dispersement outdoors.
“It’s our last time together, so everybody wants to get one more 'I love you’ out,” he said.
