Local pack wins
at Bryn Mawr
The Warrenton-kenneled Ashland Bassets won the largest five-couple pack class in a decade at the Bryn Mawr hound show in Pennsylvania last weekend.
Showing nine imported French “bleu” hounds and unentered dog Madchen, master Mary Reed performed the designated “triangle” pattern on the Radnor racecourse then posed the pack for judge Steven Little of the East Lines Bassets in England.
Reedy Creek, a new pack from McKinney, Va. placed second, with Calf Pasture third and Tewkesbury fourth.

to fast start at
Colonial
While the start of the meet was delayed an hour due to the extreme heat, Virginians got off to a fast start Monday night at Colonial Downs.
The first Virginia-bred to make the most of a new 100 percent breeders bonus was Steve Long’s Louzeeanna Swing, by Louis Quatorze out of Class Sing by Class Secret. The 3-year-old filly was bred by Mede Cahaba Stable and trained by Ferris Allen.
