Phytophthora tool rot e an organism that produces swimming spores, this pathogen thrives m saturated soils and can do a great deal ol damage to the root system before symptoms are noticed above ground Also, loss ot roots may not become obvious until soils dry out in the summer and the symptoms become apparent.

As always, the best preventative measures are to improve drainage and avoid over-irrigating, but when it rams this much, even we*-<frained soil can become saturated and warrant soil treatments.
