The Rappahannock County Circuit Court recently appointed five new members to the Town of Washington’s long-dormant Board of Zoning Appeals.
They are Jay Brown, Howie Swaim. Katherine Leggett Miller, John MacPherson “and Brad Schneider.
The five town residents will serve staggered terms ranging from one to five years. The board hears appeals from zoning decisions within the town. The board’s decisions may be appealed to the Circuit Court.
Although it has been years since the town faced a contested zoning decision, town leaders expect that such issues are more likely to arise after the new wastewater treatment system is installed in the next year.
