County & Town Meetings
• On Monday, April 6 the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors will meet at 2 p.m. at the Rappahannock County courthouse on Gay Street. There will be no 7 p.m., meeting. Highlights from the agenda include: updates on Scrabble School and landfill closure project; economic development advisory committee, mission statement and advertisement for appointments; update on property acquisition (Kramer building, etc.) New business includes: Fauquier County 250th anniversary resolution; VDOT maintenance and operations service standards ;retiree health benefits resolution; budget scheduleschool and county budget hearing on April 27, high school auditorium -adoption on May 4; proposed Virginia byway designation for Route 729 (Flint Hill to Ben Venue) Appointments Charley Strittmatter’s term on the county planning commission expires on May 1; he is eligible for reappointment. • The Washington Town Council will hold its regularly scheduled meeting on April 8 at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall. Highlights from the agenda include wastewater and easement agreement updates; consideration of a date to hold a work session on the FY 2009-2010 budget; the Metcalf water tap application; a tree in memory of Claudia Mitchell; and planting the town flower barrels for spring.
