sites for a county visitor center - the empty but county-owned Avondale farmhouse next to the library on U.S. 211/522, site of a newly paved parking lot and lighted tourist kiosk made possible by a matching grant for the Civil War Trails program.
According to the VDOT estimates, traffic along 211/522 decreases steadily to 4,900 as it approaches The Link community center in Sperryville, at which point about half the volume is heading to or from Culpeper on 522.
Average daily traffic volume along 211 between Sperryville and Skyline Drive is about 2,500, according to VDOTs 2008 estimates.
However, a private traffic count conducted along 211 just east of the Sperryville Emporium for about a month ending Nov. 8, proved that for certain events and during serendipitous weather, those numbers .can change dramatically.
