Blue Ridge Chorale brings
Christmas music to Theatre
The Blue Ridge Chorale will bring its annual Christmas celebration to The Theatre at Washington, Virginia on Dec 4 at 8 p m
It will be the chorale’s fourth Christmas concert there Under the leadership of Virginia Erwin. Chorale Director, a talented group of 28 singers will bring a magical blend of traditional Christmas music.
After an instrumental prelude where the keyboard and wind accompanists will shine as soloists in their own right, the men, the women, the Youth Choir and the Chorale Chamber Chorus will make their separate entrances, combining and separating again as the program unfolds.
In the latter part of the evening the audience will be invited to add their voices and enthusiasm to those of the chorale in two familiar carols.
From a 16th-century “Sanctus" to Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride," from traditional English carols like “The Holly and the Ivy" and “What Child is This?" to French, Irish and Trinidadian melodies, the spirit of Christmas resounds.
Of course. J S Bach and G F Handel are well represented.
