Our sympathy goes out to the family of William Buntin, 94, of Washington. Mr. Buntin passed away on Saturday after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Buntin served as a Virginia State Trooper for over 29 years. Following his retirement from the state police in 1975, he won the election for Rappahannock County sheriff' that year and was elected for a second term in 1979. After officially retiring he continued to help Sheriff. John Woodward with bailiff duties for several years.
Buntin lived with his wife, Elizabeth, and daughter, Nancy, on Main Street in Washington He and his wife first came here 62 years ago.
Funeral sendees were held at Trinity Episcopal Church on Tuesday with the Rev. Jennings Hobson III conducting Interment was followed in the Washington Masonic Cemetery
He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
