When he bought his first 25 acres off South Poes Road 12 years ago, “I was just a naive city boy from D C.,’' says Alan Zuschlag, a local realtor and owner of Touchstone Farms, the niche farm that this year begat the four-member Rappahannock Farms grassfed lamb cooperative.
Though naive about the realities of farming, however, Zuschlag had spent many years at the World Bank specializing in agricultural economics. “I decided that it would be good if I began a little experiment for myself.”
