Former Teacher, Miss Camper, Dies Salem Resident Taught at College A funeral service for Miss; Pauline Camper, former teacher at Longwood College, was held Wednesday afternoon. Dec 24. at! her home on Broad Street in i Salem. Burial took place in a j Salem cemetery. She died Tuesday morning, j Dec. 23.,.at her home in Salem i after a long illness. A graduate of Longwood Col lege. Miss Camper taught in tire department of education in the college for a number of years. She was also at one time super visor of student teachers in rural schools. She was adviser to Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority while she was a member of the faculty While she made her home in Farmville. Miss Camper was active in the Farmville Presbyterian Church. At the time of her death, she was a member of Salem Pres byterian Church. During several of her summers, the former Longwood Collece teacher taught at Roanoke C 1 lege, Salem. She also received her M. A Degree from Columbia Uni versity. Mi^s Crimper was a member of the Longwood faculty when she retired several years ago She is survived by a brother Dr. Harry Camper, of Welch. W Va . and several nieces and nep hews. she was also a sister of the late Mrs. Bessie Jamerson. who was head of the dining room at Longwood College for many years Edward I). Slate Earns Promotion Edward D. Slate, formerly inspector for the Virginia Depart ment of Highways, at Farmville, has been promoted to district computer, with heauquurters at Lynchburg. Mr. Slate, who was inspector here for the past five years.
