Nevertheless, there is no evidence that Mr. Edison wasted his time and we can be fairly certain that he appropriated it wisely. Of all the New Year’s resolutions one can make, we believe, the most important is a wise appropriation of one’s time. At the enp of the year we will find ourselves less critical of the “things we have left un done.’’ What applies to the individual also ap plies to organizations. There are those who think the nation and the community are over-organized. There may be some logic in the idea, but it must be remembered that the population of the United States has greatly increased and there must be some organization in which every one should have a part. One man said to us recently that all organizations should be dissolved for a per iod of one year and everybody attend to his own business. Of course, this is an over statement, but we do agree that commu nity organizations should assess their work for the past year and examine their pro grams for the coming year, set a goal which is a possibility and bend every effort toward reaching it. In some cases, new ideas, new enthusi asm, new faces are needed. Too many of the same people belong to and assume respon sibilities in community organizations prin cipally because they will take the lead where others hesitate. Development of ad ditional talent is always helpful. We do not think the community over-organized, on the contrary, there are too few people car ryiiig their part of the responsibility, or contributing their ability and enthusiasm toward reaching the goals set. New hori zons, new enthusiasm, new w o r k e r s can increase the value of worthwhile com munity, social and religious organizations. Why not make the New Year’s resolu tion one which can be kept and determine now to appropriate valuable time, to assume a share of the responsibility in whatever oiganization you choose for the year 10537
