Scouts Will Open Occasion Sunday At Church Service Exhibits Planned For Friday Night At Local Armory National Boy Scout Week will open in Farmville. Sunday morn ing, when Boy Scouts of Farm ville's two troops artd Cub Scouts will attend the Farmville Meth odist Church service at Jarman Hall of Longwood College. The Scouts w 1 meet in uniform Ju front of the hall at 10:45 a. m. This special week will be ob served Feb. 7-13 throughout the nation by more than three mil lion boys and adult leaders active ly enrolled in Boy Scouts of America. It will be the 43rd an niversary of the organization. It is appropriate that Farm ville Scouts open the week by at tending a church service, since churches of all faiths sponsor about half the nation's 84.300 Boy Scout Troops. Cub Packs and Ex plorer Units. Scouting Exhibit All troops in District IV of the Piedmont Area Council will put on an exhibit of Scouting at the Farmville Armory. Friday. Feb 13. at 8 p. m. Citizens of the dis trict. are invited to come to see the work that troops are doing, according to Lee B. Short, field executive. Troops from Bucking ham. Cumberland Prince Edward Nottoway. Lunenburg, and Char lotte are expected to bring ex hibits to Farmville for the dis play. Saturday. Feb. 14. members of Farmville Troops 116 and 118 will take over offices in the town and county governments. The day will be climaxed by a m ck trial in the Circuit Courtroom at noon. Scouts, acting as countv and town officers, will conduct the trial. ( ub Srouis During the past year. Farm ville has been the organization of the Cub Scout program again.
