DANIEL, JR. Chairman Tells Of Blood Procedure Charlotte Citizens Eligible For Plan Mrs. R. H. Pettus. chairman of (lie Publicity Committee for the American Red Cross in Charlotte county, has outlined the procedure for Charlotte county citizens to follow in getting Red Cross blood at the local hospitals, including Southside Community Hospital. Any person from Charlotte county who is hospitalized and needs blood, or whose doctor in Charlotte county wishes to ad minister blood to him. is eligible to receive blood free of charge, for the blood itself, from the Roanoke Regional Blood Center. If the hospital in which any person from Charlotte county is hospitalized is co-operating with the Red Cross in this blocd pro grain. the procedure is relatively simple. You simply remind the hospital of the fact that Char lotte county is a participating county in the Red Cro-s blood program Have someone notify the Charlotte County Chapter of the Rad Cross at Charlotte Court House, giving the patient's name and home address, the date he entered the hospital and whether or not lie has received any blood, and if so. how much, the name of the hospital and its address. The Red Cross Chapter at Charlotte Court House will then 'notify the blood center and re quest that it authorize replace ment ol the blood so use dr- The blood renter will then contact the hospital and determine the amount and type of blood used. The blood is then replaced to the h sj it.il by the blood center, and the patient will not be charged for the blood used.
