Auxiliary Meets Evening Branch of the Wom an's Auxiliary of St. John's Epis copal Church met Tuesday night at 8. in the home of Mis. W. R. Fox. President of the group is Mrs. Russell Moon. Misses Annie and Marjorie Nicholas attended the funeral of Mrs. William Day Smith in Rich mond. at Hollywood Cemetery, last Saturday. Mrs. Smith was a native of Scottsville and taught school here for a number of years. She was Miss Parke Harris, a . daughter of the late Charlie Har ris, and is survived by her mother, who lives in Charlottesville, also her husband, who was principal of the Scottsville school for many years. Mr. and Mrs. George B. Wheel er have announced the birth of a daughter, born Jan. 31. at Martha Jefferson Hospital. Char lottesville. Visit Soil Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Leap visited their son. Homer, of Charlottes ville who is a patient at the Uni versity of Virginia Hospital. Practically every h o m e in Scottsville and the surrounding community has been hit by one or more cases of the flu. Mr. and Mrs. James Lee Dorrier and daughter. Sarah, who have lived here while Mi. Dorrier w as connected with the Bruce Dorrier Motor Company, have moved to Martinsville, where Mr. Dorrier has n position. He was one of the most public-spirited men m tow n, while lie was a resident of Scotts ville. where lie grew up as a boy, son of Charles R. Doiiier and the late Mrs. Dorrier. He was a mem ber of the town council, secre tary-treasurer of the Lions Club, member of the Masonic Lodge and chairman of the blood bank. March of Dimes anci other cam paigns and activities in town. He will be greatly missed. ■ Mr. and Mrs. Bill Proctor, of Hopewell, spent the week end in the home of Mrs. Mary Golladay. Mr. Proctor spent sometime in town while the U S Rubber Plant was under construction. He greet ed many old friends while he was in tow n. Mr. and Mrs. William Miller Payne were called to Washington. I). C . the past week end. on ac count of illness hr the Randolph Payne family. Wednesday Guests Dr. and Mrs. Cary N. Moon and two daughters, of Charlottesville, visited Mr. and Mrs. C. N. Moon at Shirland. Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rush and son. Ralph. Jr., have returned to their home here aftci being in New York for several months. Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Tucker spent several weeks recently with Dr. and Mrs. Robert Morrison in Bclhseda. Md. Mrs. W. A. McDearmon sur prised her daughter. Sandra, by arranging a birthday party for her at the regular meeting of the Brownie's held in the Parish Hall <it St. John's Church, Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Beulah Easton, of Covcs \illc. w ill spend the week end here visiting her sons, David and Austin Easton, and otner relatives and friends.
