Garland, his succes sor, carried forward with progressive poli cies during his 20 year term, prior to re tirement this year to become president emeritus. He is succeeded by his son, R. E. Garland, who with a devoted staff of offic ers and employees will carry foward the good work of the preceding administra tions. From its beginning Farmville has been blessed with sound, progressive financial institutions. Their progress augers well for the future of this area.
