The First National Bank was opened for business January 10. 1901, with N. B Davidson as pres ident. A G. Clapham as cashier, and W P. Gilliam. Dr. Peter Win ston, Dr. J. M. Hamlet, John R Martin, N B Davidson. T. J. 'Davis, and R H. Lynn as direc tors In 1902 Lynn was vice-pres ident and J. F. Walton, E. S. Taylor. C. C Fleming, and W. D M. Stokes had been added to the board of directors. The formation of the bank was the result of a meeting of business and professional men in the of fices of Burton and Otley on No vember 10. 1900. at which $30,000 j in stock was subscribed. The iem , porary officers were Dr. Peter Winston president. A G Clap ham cashier. W. G. Dunnington, Dr. Winston. N B. Davidson. J M. Hamlet. John R. Martin, A G. Clapham and Thomas J.
