Potato Treatment
Prevents Sprouting
Potatoes and other, root crops often sprout and shrivel in storage. This causes serious losses.
This sprouting can be prevented by a simple treatment.
The treatment will not injure the potato in any way and is relatively cheap. The material used is methyl-ester of napthaleneacetic acid, a hormone. This material is sold commercially under several trade names such as Barsprout, ^Sprout Inhibitor, NonSprdtot, and Stop Sprout. It is applied as *a dust.'
This sprout retarding material should be applied at the rate of 1 gram of hormone which is usually about 1% oz. of the commercial mixture per bushel of . potatoes. *• v •

The ladies auxiliary of Emmanuel church met Wednesday evening last week with Miss Louise O’Bannon. The devotional was conducted by Dr, W. G. Pendleton.
