Transportation of The Year
A glance at history will show ul that man has been dynamic since the days of Adam. Mail in' his restless,• uncounted mood has not remained stationary. One of the first ways of transportation was boat, perhaps only . to carry our forefathers from one hunting ground to another; as time passed man used beasts to ride and pull carts, next must have been rafts to cover bodies of water.
The greatest step came with the automobile; with Hie top speed of 2Vz miles an hour, compare that with tae speed of automobiles today.^ Imagine the confusion that Womr-lfTstrrr Tiie "Uiifie d' Stales" awoke one morning to find all its cars and all of its tools and machines to manufacture them destroyed.
Just think how lost we would be without the automobile, which brings food to our very tables; and doctors to the bedside of the sick. How lost we would be without the ambulance to carry the sick to hospitals, and the fire trucks to bring firemen to save our homes. We all know that transportation has been responsible for the growth of our land in business and cities.
Ye,s, today we can travel over the natioti in strean\lined trains, visit foreign countries in g er.t •ocean liners or airplanes. We can travel underground or on the ground, under the water as well as on the water. How would we like to see the automobile that will be developed two thousand years from now? Would they resemble those of t.&day, or many times more powerful; more in the air or more atomic?
