Professor Link did hit lint two yean of undergraduate work at Shepherd college, Shepherdstorwn, W. Va. Ho received his A.B. degree at Westminister Maryland college and his mss ten at University of Maryland.
He began his teaching career in 1920 in the coal fields of West Virginia. For two years he was connected 'with the state department of Maryland. Before he came to Washington, Prof. Link was an instructor of social studies at Harpen Ferry High School, and the also served as justice of the peace for four yeairtf''white in Harpen Ferry.
During Prof. Link's eight yean at Washington, the high school grew steadily in strength. A home economics course was instituted in the course of study; a course in general shop was established in 1944; Bible and economics were added to the curriculum; spelling was made compulsory to the language arts course; classes in music began in 1946; and a lunch room began operation in March 1947.
Mr. Link, by his interests and efforts, encouraged many pupils to stay in school. Personal contact* and interviews with families lessened the percentage of drop-outs. Mr. Link feels that the holding power of a school is increased by courses in home economics, shop, and interscholastic
