Perhaps, too, he thought it was a good time to begin getting accustomed to having the women always win.
Mayor W. P. Moffett, Jr., held his ground in the difficult section of the spelling book and g<ot knocked down on “thief.” He held his ground, however, and avowed if he stood up again, he’d still spell it “e-i.”
The mayor-elect, Mrs. George H. Davis, Jr., spelled valiantly, but suffered defeat on a word “fictitious.”
