According to Fark reports, picnicking and other facilities were filled to overflowing by the thousands who came to see the'fine display of autumn colors. The greens of the conifers are offset brilliantly by the crimson of Virginia creeper and maple, yellows S£ the hickory and tylip poplar, and russets of the oaks.
This year, weather and other ' conditions have been favorable # for unusually good fall colors famous in this area; and although the Shades of color are now reported at their peak of brilliance, they should continue to be spectacular for at least another week.
It is customarily spoken that the second and third Sundays in October are the best for viewing the Drive, but the fourth Sunday will be included this year since the date is only the 22nd of the month, and the foliage is still in its glory.

' Old School Baptists
Thornton Gap Primitive (or Old School) Baptist church held their annual union meeting on Saturday and Sunday, October 14 and 15, in the school auditorium at Sperryville, A large congregation at" tended on Sunday, estimated at ' about 300 from Washington, D.C., Maryland, Pennsylvania, W. Virginia.
There were visiting ministers with the pastor, namely Elders R. P. Vass, Woodlawn, J. D. Hopkins, Danville, Elder Majors, Hyattsville, Md., B. H. Seekford, Washington, D. C., William J. , Letcher, Strasburg, Leonard Dove, Arlington, Clarence Frazier, Marshall, A. L. Harrison, Front Royal, and one licentiate Bro. Emory Alderton.
Dinner was served on the •ground both days. Visitors from, a distance spent the night with chureh members living in the vicinity.
The church wishes to thank the school board for the use of the school auditorium and facilities.
