Baggarly Withdraws
Candidacy for Mayor
The records -of the Circuit Court of Rappahannock, disclose that F. Clyde Baggarly has filed a declaration of withdrawal- of his n&me as Candidate for Mayor of The Town of Washington, Virginia and also the withdrawal of petitions of electors that he become a Candidate for the office at the Election to be held June 10, 1052.
Mr. Baggarly concludes his decflttion of withdrawal with the following statement:
“I have no apologies $o make. It was against my better judgment notwithstanding the numerous requests received, that I submit my name as Candidate for Mayor. I did so with the mental reervation, I would not further my Candidacy in any way or request any one to support me for the Office. This reservation I have kept. I do appreciate, however, * the many friends, acquaintances and those that I do not know personally, who have assqMd me of JWE friendship and’sirppdttrSuch will always * be remembered along (with those things of life we never do forget.
“Now to be confidential. There was a ‘higher power,’ that directed my final judgment. This statement will be understood and appreciated by all Married Men.’’
“The incoming administration oan be assured of my support, my interest and if young ladies, mv affection.”
“In the language of Maudant, it m ray one hope that—‘When the One Great Scorer comes to write against my name, He will not write that I won ot lost but I played the game'.”
