Someone has put out a bunch of statistics—I couldn’t understand ‘em even if I read 'em—but in one place it states: “The average life span in the United States has increased to a record high of 68 years. This is a gain of 20 years over normal life expectancy in 1900 and a triumph for medical science.”
Yep we’ve got diets, vitamins, and miracle drugs that folks didn’t have in 1900. So, we are going to live 20 years longer.
Now, what most of us are interested in is this: what are we going to do about the extra 20 years? Do we know how to use the years any better than the folks did in 1900, or have we deteriorated to the point where it takes us an extra 20 years to get one lifetime lived as well as they did in 1900?
