The citizens of Rappahannock County are indeed fortunate in having the Virginia State Highway Department care so well for the streets of the County Seat. A number of years ago a group of interested and far-sighted men succeeded in getting the streets of the town—THEN—proudly referred to as “The First Washington of All,” placed under the Highway System. It was the first town of its size in Virginia to have all of its streets macadamized.
Recently the writer noticed a bad place on the side of one of the streets where cars had cut in and mud was being carried out on the street. She called Mr. M. H. Brady, superintendent of roads in this district, and in less than a half-hour, he was there to see what was needed. The next day the place was fixed in a most satisfactory manner
I am sure there are many, in addition to myself, who appreciate Mr. Brady’s promptness, quiet efficiency and courtesy in caring for the streets of the County Seat of Rappahannock County.
