Farm drainage as a conservation practice in Rappahannock County is coming to the front. Seven farmers have already done either tile or open “ditch drain'age work so far this year and a number of others have requested assistance from the Culpeper Soil Conservation District.
As a result of several barns and ether farm buildings being destroyed by fire recently, numerous applications have come in for the construction of farm ponds. After several destructive country fires, farmers become concerned about their own fire hazards And decide to construct pcinds as a fire protection. Don’t be one of those who closed the barn door after the horse got out.
Soil Conservation Service Technicians attended a special meeting in Orange on Monday and Tuesday of this week to discuss the “new things in farm pond construction.” Engin“eers~Troin the Regional Otfice of the Soil Conservation Service led the discussion.
