t hose dates were designated by Governor John S. Battle. ‘ In part, Governor Battle’s statement read: . “Last year the people of Virginia joined in the initial observance of Natural Resource Conservation Week, dedicated to all phases of conservation.
There has been marked progress since that, time in the -various programs for the conservation of soil and our other natural resources, and I take this means of inviting the agricultural agencies of this State, together with civic, business, agricultural and other groups, to actively participate in the second observance. This occasion offers a opportunity of bringing to the attention of all the citizens of Virginia the fact that their continued welfare and prosperity are dependent upon the maintenance and wise ust of our land, water, forPst, and wildlife resources.
