Apple Season Gets Going

The “juice-plant” at Sperryville began the season’s operations yesterday, Wednesday, September 10, with what might be termed the official openng of the apple season in RapnahaTitiAplf - - paiiat 11 tv/viv. *

The packing houses at Sperryville and Flat Woods (Washington) will probably begin operations Friday.

Downing Wood’s packing house at Washington opened when peaches were packed, and the crew went straight into apple-packing after that. Wood Bros, packing house in. Flint Hill will probably begn operations in another week.

No opinion on the season’s. crop can be got from a grower. With their customary long faces, they bemoan their fates and telf how terrible the crop is, but one opinion ventures the guess that the crop this year is about two-thirds that of last year in ■quantity. No statement is made as to quality; the growers await the grading and make no predictions.
