Trial Justice Court

Franklin Roosevelt (Bill) Dodson, Haywood and Robert Dodson, who were arrested on the night of August 30, charged with assaulting John Lee Miller by requiring him at the point of a knife to drive them to the home of James Fletcher (colored), where they tried to obtain wine. After they were not able to secure the wine, they tufned their attention to chicken theft, where by they forced Miller to several other homes in order to visit the chicken houses.

This case set for Tuesday, September 5, was continued until Monday, September 8, at 2 p.m., until Robert and Haywood could employ a lawyer. They secured the services of Attorney George H. Davis Jr„ because of other business Mr. Davis could not appear at this time. Their case is continued until a later date.

Bill Dodson, who is in the armed services, appeared on the above said date and pleaded guilty to both charges, felonius assault and petit larceny.

Bll was sentenced to six months for assault of Miller and fwo months for chicken theft. As he had to report to camp on Tuesday to be sent to foreign service in the Armed Forces, his sentence was suspended until he is discharged from service.

Pendleton will conduct services at Trnity Episcopal Church, Washington, on Sunday, September 14, at 11 a.m. This is the last service held in Trinity Church lw Dr. Pendleton at rector of Bromfield Parish, as his resignation goes into effect on Monday. The public is cordially invited to attend.
