ALICE SAW A SNAKE
Miss Alice Wood took a trip to the chicken house. While gathering eggs, sheG noticed what looked to her like a snake skin. She reported the incident to her mother, Mrs. F. Downing Wood, and Mother dispatched a man to investigate.
It was a snake skin, all right, with six feet of snake inside of it.
Alice, with her magnificent 7year-old composure, relates the tale as if it fwere a mere trifle. She says-she didn’t put her hand on the snake, ’though it was near her, wrapped around a pole.
