A few years ago there was a certain hollow in this county where it iwas unsafe for a respectable citisen to venture. Sobriety was foreign, and lawlessness
held ^vay. Largely through the efforts’ of a minister .of the Gospel, using some methods unorthodox to the minds of many, a change was effected in the lives of many families in that hollotw "■ until today the community is lawabiding, respectable, and the children are being sent to Sunday School.
It little behooves some of us to criticize the methods used by the minister, who must receive credit for much good works. The churches we attend had been here for more than 100 years, but they counldn’t meet the needs of this particular group of people.
There is a place in the world for all types of worship of God. There is a need for different forms of worship to meet the needs of the different temperaments of people.
As quickly as anyone, we will rise up and fight any religious group that tries to ram its beliefs down our throats, but we stand as freedom-loving Americans, stating that a man’s religious beliefs are his own and he has a right to them. A political campaign is no place to discuss a man’s church affiliatidns.
