Fire Program To Be Held
In Sperryville School
The sixth grade of Sperryville Elementary School will present a Fire Prevention Program in the auditorium on October 9, at 2 p.m. under the direction of Mrs. Ann S. Keyser. Every member of her class will have a part in the program. R. Kl. Johnson, Fire Warden of Rappahannock, will present and introduce E. E. Walker of Charlottesville, "one of the State Forest Specialists, who will be the speaker of the afternoon. The public is cordially invited to attend.

Awards At Nursing School
Barbara Wayland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Wayland #f Castleton, who graduated September 12 from Alexandria School of Nursing, received the first .annual Dr. Llewellyn Powell, established in ” memory of the prominent Alexandria physician who died in 1951. The Powell Award set up by the children of the late physician, is a circular gold pin to be given yearly tq the graduating nurse whose scholastic standing and practical application of nursing skill make her outstanding in the opinion of the school’s professional staff. Miss Wayland also received the annual Board of Lady Managers Award for exceptionally high standards of service and character in the practice of nursing.
Bake Sale
The W.S.C.S. of Washington. Methodist Church will have a bake sale at Lea’s Store, Saturday, October 4, at 10:30 a.m. It will con sist of cakes, pies, hot rolls, sandwiches, candy, etc.
Birth Announcement -
Mr. and Mrs. Buck Clater are receiving congratulations on the birth of a daughter, born Fritjay, September 26 at Physicians’ Hospital in Warrenton. Mrs. Clater was, before her marriage, was Miss Annie Laura Estes.
