We have been losing it— through inertia, blindness, the spineless seeking for an impossible security, the following of false prophets. We can only save it by turning our backs squarely on political philosophies which have made much of the world into a vast slave camp.

Mrs. Bertha Brock has voiced deep appreciation for what the Red Cross has done for her within the past two weeks, following an auto accident when her son, Harold Brown Estes, was injured. The Red Cross Bloodmobile Unit, with Rappahannock county listed as donating, meant that the many transfusions her boy had were given „.without charge. The Red Cross sent to Texas for her other son, Everett Estes, so he could leave his post with the Air Force and be with his mother and brother during the first days of shock following the accident. <mPraise

for the Red Cross is high on Mrs. Brock’s list right now, but she has always upheld the organization and the fine things it does. She admits that there may lie some cause for some of the stories told in derogatory terms, but she is certain that such is only a normal result. Any organization composed of thousands of people is bound to get a sorry one or Two,, but the. whole, need not l>c judged by a few.

During the time of war-time firstaid training, Mrs. Brock took the complete training course, qualified as an instructor and taught classes at Viewtown and other points. On severaroccasions she has been credited with life-saving because of her knowledge of first-aid at the time of wrecks. She once rode in an ambu
