There ’re winey apples spilling on the floor; the fat turkey is all waiting to be dressed and it’s hanging high.
And whether you’re a boy able to slip off on a rabbit hunt on Thanksgiving morning or a girl supposed to help mother in the kitchen—or the grown-up person you really are—you’re suddenly kind of glad you’re living in a country that has Thanksgiving —a holiday made up of so many old-timey good ones that you can really recollect about the ones that happened years before you were born. ■
