Chairman Appointed
For March of Dimes
Mrs. T. C. Lea, county chairman of the Polio Drive, has announced the following chairmen for the districts of the county in collection for the March of Dimes:
Mrs. Lee Thornt(|n and Mrs. Milton Gore, Piedmont district; Miss Ruth Stevens and .Mrs. Paul Miller, Wakefield district; Mrs. A. C. Latham, Jackson district; Mrs. C. B. Johnson, Stonewall district; and Mrs. R. G. Quaintance, Jr., Hawthorne district. Mrs. Ora Barbour will serve as colored chairman of Hampton district.
Mrs. Lea, local chairman, has declared that the local chapter mu9t make every effort to surpass last year’s total contributions which amounted to $900, although no definite qupta has been set for the county.
Of the total funds raised here for the March of Dimes half will remain in the county for use by the local chapter of the national foundation and the remainder will go direct to the foundation. However, if the county should be struck by a polio epidemie which depleted the treasury, the national headquarters would give supplementary financial aid.
